Expected OutcomesEach year educators are given a curriculum from the Manatee County School District which interprets Florida Educational Standards. Our curriculum department creates expected educational outcomes to guide teachers. These statements identify what students should know and be able to do at a particular grade level. We use classroom texts to create assessments with the intention of your student showing mastery of each standard and performing at or above grade level.
Our class will focus on in-depth reading. The purpose of this style is to understand the concepts and arguments the text contains. We will reread a text several times for research and support, and each time we reread, our concentration is on a different aspect of the text. While rereading, students will take notes, research, form opinions, and make claims. Once we have 100% comprehension of the text, we apply our knowledge to write a formal response.
Manatee County's Curriculum lays out a diverse reading selection and allows ample teacher supplementation. You may see a few of our required text and the complete breakdown of language arts' standards at manateeschools.net. |
